Jordan Henderson gives verdict on Philippe Coutinho amid Liverpool return talks

Jordan Henderson has opened up on the latest talks over Philippe Coutinho's possible return to Liverpool this summer. Coutinho has played along with the Reds' current captain between 2013 and 2018. Later the Brazilian left for Barcelona, struggling to impress with Catalan giants. Now as the Spanish side are ready to sell the player, he has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool. Speaking about Coutinho's possible return to Anfield, Henderson told Rio Ferdinand on The Locker Room: "[Coutinho is] So good as a player, technically. Again just loved playing football, wanted to be out there enjoying playing football. Such a top player and a great lad as well." In February, the Reds captain shared his thoughts on his former teammate, speaking to Spanish publication Sport. He said: "Phil is a good friend of mine. I think he is an exceptional footballer, he has everything, he has a great attitude and he loves football. So, of course, for me he would always be welcome, but it is not up to me. It is probably best to ask the manager that. The boys loved him, so if you ask any of them, I’m sure they’ll say they would love to have him back. But I think his time here has passed, he has moved and I hope that in the near future we will see the same Phil we saw here."
