Javier Hernandez has opened up on a feud with Sir Alex Ferguson that left him so mad he could not even celebrate scoring for Manchester United. The Mexican striker, who enjoyed a successful four seasons at Old Trafford, had won the Premier League twice and scored 37 league goals.
However, his United career was not all plain sailing and a feud with legendary Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson left him furious. The incident happened during a match with Newcastle United after he missed a number of golden opportunities. After the missed chances, Ferguson had a go at Hernandez to the extent that he did not even celebrate when he eventually scored.
When asked about his biggest conflict with a manager on Rio Ferdinand's
The Locker Room, Hernandez told his former teammate:
"It was with the boss. We were playing against Newcastle. I had a lot of options and he told me 'you needed to score'.
"I wanted to say to him: 'Do you think I wanted to miss those options? I want to score them, of course! I don’t want to miss them'.
"I remember I then scored a goal, they went to kick it out and I just covered it it, it hit my thigh and it went in. I didn’t even celebrate. I was completely p***ed off."
Hernandez now plays for LA Galaxy and during his time at the Old Trafford he scored 59 goals and provided 20 assists in 157 appearances.
