Ian Wright gives damning verdict on Arsenal-and Wolves fans will love it

Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s 86th-minute goal earned Arsenal 1-1 draw against Wolves at Emirates Stadium. Following the game, Arsenal legend Ian Wright insisted Arsenal ‘dodged a bullet’. “We were very lucky,” he said. “We were fortunate in the end to get away with that. “Wolves, on the counter-attack, they had a plan for us and we were very fortunate to get away with that. “I love our manager. At half-time, he realised we were getting hurt on the right-hand side because Aubameyang wasn’t getting back to help Kolasinac, which is a worry for me in itself. “I was pleased he made the decision to do that at half-time, as much as it’s hard on Iwobi because he has been playing well recently. “The tactical fouls that they made on us were clever and stopped our flow. There wasn’t enough creativity from us. Mesut [Ozil] came off. He couldn’t quite get into it because Wolves had the two banks of players and he couldn’t find the space that he needed.” German goalkeeper Bernd Leno made stunning stops to deny Helder Costa, Diogo Jota and Adama Traore “Leno saved us today,” Wright added. “The mistake for the goal with Xhaka giving it away, it’s unfortunate but those are the mistakes that we need to eradicate from our game and then we could end up winning it maybe 1-0 with the luck we had with their poor finishing. “But for Leno, we would have ended up losing this game. We have to say we’ve dodged a bullet here. “We were fortunate to get away with the 1-1 but I’ll take it. It was disappointing but I’m quite pleased in the end.”
