Chelsea captain John Terry has earlier this week announced that the Blues don’t want to extend his contract.
However, Blues boss Guus Hiddink was surprised with Terry’s statement and thinks there’s still time for dialogue to take place between player and club.
“I have had conversations with him in the past days about all kinds of things. It was sad from John. He is entitled, after his contract expires at the end of the season, to make up his mind, that is true.
“I don’t want to over-value the attention we are giving this but from the club side, I think they still want to have the dialogue to have an open door still. So it was a bit surprising (that he said what he did),” said Hiddink.
