He needs to step up on two moderate efforts in the autumn, but that is hardly a fanciful scenario off a mark 131. This shorter trip might also do him the power of good.
3.00 Warwick – ACHILLE

Must overcome a 437-day absence but the suspicion is that this race has been the plan for quite some time. Should get the trip doing handstands judged by his terrific run at Cheltenham last November, after which he was reported to be lame.
His trainer is a maestro when it comes to getting horses ready for these sorts of marathons and is sure to have the 11-year-old grey ready to roll.
3.35 Warwick – TOBEFAIR
Odds: 10/1

Always held in high regard by connections, having finished sixth in the Stayers’ Hurdle last March. He won’t mind any dig in the ground and is now back on the same mark off which he won at Cheltenham in October 2019.
He looks massively overpriced on his best form and would be half the odds if with a more fashionable yard.
