Gary Neville predicts where Manchester United will finish in the Premier League

Gary Neville has warned Manchester United that their second place in the Premier League could come under threat. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side was knocked out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in the quarter-finals. United currently sat 14 points off Premier League leaders Man City, albeit, with a game in hand. The FA Cup loss means their only real chance of silverware this season is now in the Europa League. Speaking on his Gary Neville podcast, the former United defender added that it was crucial to close the gap on City before the end of the season. He said: "I think Manchester United are still the second-best team in the country, I still think that. It could come under threat, but I just feel that United will have enough to get there in the end. "The purpose of Manchester United, I said it a few weeks ago, is to finish a good second, not a bad second. If they finish below second then I think it will be a real disappointment. "But the position they’re in now, I think you’ve got to finish as close to Manchester City as possible, it does matter how close you finish to them because it is played back at the end of the season: ‘Oh, you finished 16 points off them’, you’ve got to try and get within single figures so you can ask yourselves where you can make up those four points, those eight points. You can see that, you can visualise it. "When we used to lose leagues, we’d think, ‘where can we put this right? Is it our away form?’, you can point towards it. When you’re 16 or 17 points off, then there’s no point in looking, whereas actually when you’re a few points away, you can look back at Crystal Palace, Sheffield United, I think we can turn those ones around. That’s why it’s so important to finish in a strong second place, but let’s see what happens."
