Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Roy Keane have all expressed their support for Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season. Despite Sunday's match at the Emirates Stadium offering Liverpool a chance to extend their lead at the top of the table, they were unable to capitalize, losing 3-1 to Arsenal and narrowing the gap between the two teams to just two points.
Neville highlighted Arsenal's lack of a decisive attacking presence compared to Liverpool, suggesting it could hinder their title aspirations. He praised Arsenal's overall quality but emphasized their deficiency in the final third.
Carragher echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Arsenal's victory might benefit Manchester City more in the title race, as Liverpool remain a significant threat due to their clinical edge.
"I think Manchester City will look at Liverpool as a big threat in terms of the title because we've been there before and we've got players who've done it before so for me, tonight, I think the biggest winners are Man City," former Liverpool man said, via Daily Mail.
Keane shared similar views, expressing skepticism about both Arsenal and Liverpool's ability to sustain a title challenge against Manchester City. He emphasized City's strength and depth, suggesting that neither Arsenal nor Liverpool are likely to surpass them in the race for the title.
"I think I having watched the game I know that Liverpool have had an off day and Arsenal are still nice on the eye but I still couldn't see these two teams finishing ahead of Man City. I just can't," the ex-Manchester United star added.
Currently, Manchester City are five points behind Liverpool but have two games in hand. They are set to face both Liverpool and Arsenal later in the season, which could have a significant impact on the title race.
