Former Western Conference executive claims Giannis Antetokounmpo could be on the Warriors in three months

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus has talked to sources around the NBA who believe Giannis Antetokounmpo’s days in Milwaukee Bucks could be over. Reigning NBA MVP and the Bucks are officially out of the playoffs. The 25-year-old can sign a supermax extension this offseason that could be worth up to $250 million, depending on what happens with the salary cap after the pandemic’s economic fallout. Antetokounmpo said he is committed to staying with the Bucks, but that could change over the next few months. The Golden State Warriors have reportedly had their eye on Antetokounmpo for quite some time and could be an enticing option for Antetokounmpo. Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus spoke to several people from around the league about what could happen with Antetokounmpo: “He could be on the Warriors in three months,” a former Western Conference executive said. The basic assumption, if he decides to leave, is that Antetokounmpo will want to play in one of the NBA’s major markets on a contending team. That’s why Golden State, with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, is an obvious fit (at least on paper). One former general manager views the Warriors as “the only leverage opportunity” for Milwaukee. “Time is on their side,” he said. “They would get a huge deal.” If Antetokounmpo doesn’t sign the supermax in the offseason, Milwaukee will have to look at their options. The Bucks can’t risk losing one of the game’s best players for nothing if he decides to bolt in free agency next year. Source- Golden State of Mind
