Former referee explains why Brighton's penalty against Manchester City was not ruled out by VAR

During the Manchester City v Brighton clash, the latters were awarded a penalty, and despite Solly March being in an offside position, the decision was not overturned by VAR. Former referee Dermot Gallagher has explained why it was the right decision not to overturn the penalty.
"I think it’s a penalty,” said Gallagher.   “The thing here is that you’ve got to get the ball and Ederson doesn’t, he takes the player.   “People will say ‘why wasn’t the offside given in the build-up’, well I think it’s too far back. It's not a time issue, it's about whether the defence have a chance to reset."   “If you watch, the ball goes back, it goes sideways and it goes back again, so the decision is they have time to reset so they don’t go that far back to the offside.”
However, Gallagher says that Sanchez was at fault for spilling the ball rather than it being a foul by the Brazilian striker, as he added.
“If you watch the ball is there to be won. Gabriel Jesus goes in to head the ball, he looks at the ball all the time, the goalkeeper comes.   “I think the goalkeeper comes into him more than the other way around. Jesus doesn’t move and the goalkeeper loses the ball because he is coming over the top of Jesus’ body, he’s entitled to be there.   “We saw it last week with [Michail] Antonio of West Ham at Everton. The referee did exactly the same.”
