Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev has said he does not consider the Davis Cup Finals as the "real Davis Cup" as it has some of the biggest names in men's tennis.
The tournament was revamped by the International Tennis Federation in 2018, transforming it into a season-ending, 18-team event staged in a single week.
Zverev opted not to compete in the Davis Cup and has opted out of Germany’s six-man squad for this year’s showpiece.
"The format has to be changed and I’m sticking to that," said the world number four.
"I am someone who keeps his word.
"I want to win the Davis Cup, but I want to win the real Davis Cup."
The line-up has been confirmed for the event as Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev lead their nations.
