Football.London journalist claims Tottenham could move for Benfica defender Ruben Dias

Tottenham could move for Benfica defender Ruben Dias, according to Football London reporter Rob Guest. Spurs have already secured the signings of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, while they are still looking for more additions for the summer transfer window. And Guest claims the Lilywhites are linked with the move for the Portugal professional, though his transfer depends on the club's ability to offload a number of fringe players. Writing in a Q&A for Football London, reporter said: "Ruben Dias is a player Jose Mourinho is a big fan of but a striker is priority first before looking to sign a centre-back. "Spurs would need to raise quite a lot of money if they want to sign Dias from Benfica before the deadline. "He reportedly has an £80m clause in his contract and that will be out of their price range. "Obviously Spurs would try and drive the price right down if they attempt to move for him, but a new striker is priority first and foremost." Then he added: "Spurs are only going to spend within their means and hopefully there will be a bit of money coming into the club through player sales. "It's not like the club have splashed the cash like Chelsea have this summer as they've spent big trying to upgrade their squad. "The club have done some very smart business so far and have got some excellent deals in Doherty and Hojbjerg."
