Spain will participate in the Olympics football tournament, but City refuse to let Ferran Torres take part.
Currently Spain are preparing for their quarter final clash with Switzerland on Friday, and if the Spanish team manages to get to the final, they will be playing until July 11. And then 10 days later, the Men’s Football tournament starts in Japan, lasting until August 7, which technically means Torres would have been playing all summer.
City also play against Leicester City in the Community Shield on August 7, and Torres has accepted the decision of missing the Olympics saying:
“I haven’t argued. It is true that a player needs a vacation because the season is long and you need to take a break. We are experiencing a very beautiful, very intense European Championship and the holidays will come”.
