Federer: "I am so happy the Laver Cup is coming to Switzerland"

Roger Federer shared his emotions about the fact that team tournament Laver Cup will be held in Geneva next year. “I am so happy the Laver Cup is coming to Switzerland. I would like to thank the city of Geneva and the Laver Cup team who made this dream come true. “It was never really my goal to bring the Laver Cup to Switzerland, especially not in the first few years or as long as I’m still playing. But all of a sudden, Geneva raised the arm and said we would be interested… I said, wouldn’t that be incredible that maybe I would still be playing and… I could get as many guys as possible together and bring such a great event to a city that has seen a lot of tennis over the years and likes tennis… “Wherever we go it needs to be a place that knows tennis, and Geneva definitely does that.” The first tournament took place in Prague and team Europe won it with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic, Dominic Thiem and Tomas Berdych. The 2019 event will be staged at the Palexpo in Geneva on 20-22 September.
