Ex-Premier League referee gives his verdict on Calvert-Lewin challenge on De Gea

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher believes Michael Oliver and VAR referees were right not to disallow Victor Lindelef's own goal at Old Trafford stadium against Manchester United.  Sweden national team defender scored an own goal after Toffees delivered corner kick and it was counted by Michael Oliver despite the challenge from Dominic Calvert-Lewin on David De Gea. "I honestly don't think it's a foul. When you watch it, De Gea comes out and flaps at the ball. They (De Gea and Calvert-Lewin) are both in the air and Calvert-Lewin does have an arm across him, but the ball is gone. There's going to be inevitable contact at this point.” Gallagher wrote on Sky Sports He added: "I think the contact has happened afterwards. He's come out and flapped at the ball for whatever reason, they're both in the air and there is going to be a collision, there's no doubt about that, but I think it happens after the ball has gone past him." Everton have meanwhile taken 4 points in their last two matches against Chelsea and Manchester United.  Despite the impact from Duncan Ferguson, club chiefs are considering Carlo Ancelotti as top candidate to take charge of the club.  Italian coach is reportedly in Liverpool and has started negotiations with Toffees.
