Everton in the hunt for £36m star who was dubbed the 'next Xabi Alonso'

Everton are in the race with Arsenal to sign Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca, who has been labelled the next Xabi Alonso. According to El Gol Digital, the Toffees have asked the Spanish club about the player. Roca's release clasue is reported to be £36m and the Spanish club will not be interested in any deal which worth less than his clause. Meanwhile, SPORT have claimed, that the Gunners would try to undercut that fee. The midfielder has an incredible talent which led to comparisons to Sergio Busquets and Xabi Alonso. Roca even made the comparison himself in conversation with La Liga Lockdown in 2018. “I’ve always liked Xabi Alonso. From a very young age, I wanted to be like him. He’s an amazing player, and I hope one day to get close to what he did because I think he’s one of the best midfielders in history. He’s a very complete player, offensively and defensively. I have always set my sights on him.” Everton believe Roca can have a similar impact at the club as Alonso was for Liverpool. The 23-year-old midfielder has made 24 La Liga appearances for Espanyol so far, has scored twice and has created an assist. Source: TBRFootball
