Evening Standard: Where Liverpool could win or lose the title race

Liverpool remain top of the Premier League table and their favourite to win their first League title since 1990, however, The Reds face a huge battle to hold on to the top spot. Manchester City and Tottenham are also battling for the title and Pep Guardiola’s side are only 3 points behind the league leaders. Evening Standard Liverpool correspondent David Lynch has assessed the strength and weaknesses for Liverpool ahead of their run-in. Here is the Q&A from Lynch. What’s In Liverpool’s favour? It draws with Leicester and West Ham represent Liverpool’s ‘blip’, then the two points they picked up could prove massive at the end of the season. You just can’t imagine they will keep playing poorly. What goes against? The weight of history is a bigger factor for Liverpool than City. Virgil van Dijk spoke of a nervous Anfield crowd during the draw with Leicester and that doesn’t bode well as the season nears its climax. Which fixtures hold the key? Manchester United away looks particularly daunting for Liverpool, while Tottenham should have both Kane and Alli back for their visit to Anfield. If Liverpool win those games, you’d fancy them to see it out. Which manager can swing it their team’s way? The Reds still hold a points advantage and will play fewer games than City in all competitions. If Klopp can keep his players calm by reiterating that message, Liverpool should claim the title.
