Mourinho 0-1 Guardiola

(Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City)

guardiola-rooney

Mourinho vs Guardiola era for the city of Manchester as well as the whole England has already started. And started it with Guardiola’s victory (1-2). Both of the teams were recognized to yet be raw, and do not seem to adapt the playing styles by which their new managers are known to build their teams.

For example, in the case of the first City goal, Kolarov made a long arial cross from the left of their own penalty area to the middle of the field, where Illeanacho was keen on winning the ball from Baily and heading it to De Bruyne. The Belgium international chose a better position than his opponent Blind and went one on one against De Gea. 1-0. The goal looks like one Guardiola’s team don’t often score, while Baily – Blind – Show mistake was not something common for a defense built by Mourinho.

In general, MU’s defense made some elementary mistakes, and Blind was always there to become the anti-hero of the episode. In case of City’s second goal MU’s whole defense were protecting De Bruyne – Iheanacho and Sterling, leaving Nolito again. Still, the goal came from within the area they thought they were protecting as Blind blocked Iheanacho’s offside. 2-0

We might think about mistakes in Manchester United defense, however, the attacking midfielders spent another horrible much. The expensive new comers Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan do not seem to “work their money.” Manchester United revived only after Mkhitaryan was substituted by Herrera and Lindgard by Rashford. The game became faster, but still there was no cooperation.

Manchester United’s only goal came after Claudio Bravo’s terrible mistake in his attempt to take the arial ball, after which Ibrahimovic took the ball from the air and netted it. 2-1

So, in the end of the day we have two teams with awesome squads and star managers who are very raw. We can’t yet recognize the coaches’ approaches in the game and that what made the Manchester derby a very emotional but low quality game with no rough battles in the midfield and absolutely hilarious mistakes. Still, Manchester City is on top of table.

The king is dead! Long live the king…?!

(Liverpool 4-1 Leicester City)

lallana-goal

Liverpool faced the defending champion Leicester City. Jurgen Klopp’s team showed an incredible group work to penetrate Leicester’s defense and hit the back of the net 4 (!) times, as Firmino (twnce, Mane and Lallana shined. And Jamie Vardy’s single goal was not able to save the game.

In general, it seems English Premier League teams have spent the whole summer for analyzing Leicetser’s game. Awesome through passes, beautiful corner netting and dribbling by Klopp’s boys teared apart Leicester City’s defense letting them return to the position (16) they occupied at the end of season 2014/15.

Chelsea and Everton placed right below Manchester City

Chelsea did not give up in the battle against Swansea at Liberty Stadium (2-2). Everton, in turn, won 0-3 against Sunderland, letting us watch the Lukaku show. The success in round 4 let these teams place themselves right below Manchester City becoming the unexpected leaders of the season kick off.
