England head coach Shaun Wane linked with top NRL club

England head coach Shaun Wane is reportedly being lined up to replace Paul McGregor at St George Illawarra Dragons. Following  the Dragons’ poor start to the NRL campaign, McGregor is under fire in Wollongong and according to The Mole, Wane is a name being considered as replacement for the former Australia international, who at the helm should he lose his job. McGregor has been in charge at St George since taking over from Steve Price in 2014, however performances have dropped off significantly this season and as a result they remain the only winless team in the competition. The report also claim that the club are looking for another options, as well, and they may look to the England coach, who has recently appointed an Australian agent. Wane was unveiled as the England coach in February, however hasn’t been able to meet up with his players yet given the global pandemic and after the cancellation of the Ashes series planned for the end of the season, it could be next year before he takes charge of his first international game.
