Which shirt number will Kai Havertz wear at Arsenal

Arsenal are set to secure their first signing of the summer as Kai Havertz will make a move to the Emirates Stadium after the two London sides reached an agreement over his transfer.

According to the sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, medical tests have already been scheduled for a reported £60m transfer, which means the player's official announcement could be a matter of time.

As the German international is on his way to Arsenal, he will eventually have to choose his shirt number from possible options.

Shirt numbers available for Kai Havertz at Arsenal

While being on duty for his national side, Havertz has worn numbers such as 7, 10, 18, 20, 21, and 23. At Arsenal, the No.7 and No.10 are currently worn by Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard respectively.

The potential departures of Cedric Soares and Nuno Tavares could open up the No.17 and the No.20. Fabio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga occupy the No.21 and No.23 shirts, but their situations could change if they leave the club.

Havertz is more likely to choose the No.29 shirt, which has had a special value for him since childhood. Throughout his club career, the 24-year-old has consistently worn the No.29, except for his time in Bayer Leverkusen's youth setup where he donned the No.17. When joining Chelsea back in 2020, the attacker preferred to take that number despite having the opportunity to choose the No 10 shirt.

The No.29 is currently vacant in Mikel Arteta's squad. The last player to wear that number was Mateo Guendouzi, who departed Arsenal for Marseille at the start of the previous season.
