Tottenham's Rodrigo Bentancur has stated that he hopes to be back at the Spurs Stadium in 'two or three months' after revealing that he's been progressing in his recovery.
After displaying a commendable performance, the Uruguayan player's season came to an unfortunate halt in February when he suffered a devastating injury to his left knee. The injury involved the tearing of the anterior cruciate ligament and had a significant impact on his ability to continue playing. The incident occurred during the match against Leicester, abruptly ending what had been a promising season for him.
“I brought the club’s physiotherapist to Uruguay; we continue working and my knee is doing very well. I didn’t set a lap time, but I hope in two or three months to be at least gaining a few minutes again,” said the influential midfielder via ESPN in his homeland.
Recognizing that the injury was out of his control, Benancur admitted that it occurred at such an unfortunate time in his career, when he was doing 'very well'.
Under the guidance of Postecoglou, the 25-year-old is set to assume a role within a midfield trio, where he will have the freedom to contribute offensively in one of the two No.8 positions. This opportunity may enable him to enhance his goal-scoring abilities, building upon his commendable record of six goals in 26 matches during his tenure at Tottenham last season.
