Tottenham approach Mainz regarding move for 13-goal striker

Tottenham have reportedly enquired about Mainz striker Robin Quaison as they want a back up to Harry Kane. Kane was Spurs’ only recognised senior striker last term. Kane’s hamstring injury meant the likes of Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-Min had to fill in up front. But Jose Mourinho is hoping to avoid such reshuffles next season by bringing in a new centre forward. A new potential target has now emerged though, with Mainz’s Quaison thought to be of interest according to Bild. The Swede scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga in 2019/20, and has attracted plenty of interest from elsewhere. Mainz are reluctant to sell him such is his importance, but the 26-year-old is thought to be keen on leaving. Moreover, Quaison has entered the final year of his contract.
