Tottenham approach Mainz regarding move for 13-goal striker

Tottenham have reportedly enquired about Mainz striker Robin Quaison as they want a back up to Harry Kane. Kane was Spurs’ only recognised senior striker last term. Kane’s hamstring injury meant the likes of Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-Min had to fill in up front. But Jose Mourinho is hoping to avoid such reshuffles next season by bringing in a new centre forward. A new potential target has now emerged though, with Mainz’s Quaison thought to be of interest according to Bild. The Swede scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga in 2019/20, and has attracted plenty of interest from elsewhere. Mainz are reluctant to sell him such is his importance, but the 26-year-old is thought to be keen on leaving. Moreover, Quaison has entered the final year of his contract. Therefore, Mainz will have to sell this summer or risk losing him for free in a year. Source: teamtalk
