After not seeing the phenomenal effect of their £72m striker deal, Manchester United are seen to be looking at several other forwards to sign in order to ease the pressure on Hojlund.
Since joining from Atalanta over the summer, the Hojlund is yet to score his first goal in the Premier League, despite having netted three times in European competitions. Upon his arrival at Old Trafford, the 20-year-old was dealing with a back injury, which has affected his early performance with United.
Erik ten Hag's side believe that the Danish talent could benefit from partnering with a seasoned center-forward to share the goalscoring responsibilities and enhance his development, recognizing that his youth may require additional experience in their attacking lineup come the new year. Currently, Anthony Martial is the only consistent center-forward at Old Trafford.
It is now believed that Erik ten Hag's side can pursue a new striker for their squad only if they find a buyer for Anthony Martial, which will support the club in raising funds.
The three strikers that the Red Devils are considering are:
Ivan Toney - Brentford
Manchester United are exploring the possibility of acquiring a supporting striker, with Brentford's Ivan Toney among the players under their radar. While Anthony Martial is still part of the squad, it is widely anticipated that he has no long-term future at the club and is expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Toney has returned to Brentford's training ground a month ago, but his future at the club is still puzzled. Brentford are prepared to offload their striker and has placed a valuation of £80 million on him. The striker will have 18 months remaining on his contract once he becomes eligible to play again on January 17.
Mehdi Taremi - Porto
The Red Devils are also reportedly showing interest in Porto's Mehdi Taremi as a potential target. The club's management appears determined to strengthen the squad in light of their disappointing start to the season.
Inter Milan are another club who are very interested in securing the services of the 31-year-old forward from Porto. Yet, the Iran international's wage demands are still unclear and a lot of the deal's success will depend on this factor.
Victor Osimhen - Napoli
Osimhen has emerged as another long-standing target for Erik ten Hag's side. With a reported desire to depart from the Napoli, the Nigeria international is still awaiting a contract extension at Serie A.
Liverpool had dispatched scouts to observe Osimhen during the international break. The Nigerian striker has maintained his impressive form this season, tallying six goals in ten appearances. However, his relationship with the Italian champions has reportedly soured.
