Jonathan Clauss has opened up on why did he turn down Chelsea's offer to join Olympique Marseille instead.
The 29-year-old was one of the main targets of the Blues' former coach Thomas Tuchel, who was in seach for additions in defence.
Regardless of the Londoner's heavy inerest, the right back joined the fellow French side for a €9million transfer fee in July.
According to Evening Standard, the former Lens player confessed he rejected a move to Stamford Bridge because Marseille 'ticked all the boxes' he was loooking for.
“I didn’t want to sign for Chelsea to one day say I signed for Chelsea.
“It was really to try and keep playing, to discover the Champions League. Marseille ticked all the boxes I was looking for.” added the defender.
