Thiago Silva and three other Chelsea players criticized as Pochettino identifies trust issues

Following a distressing 4-1 loss against Liverpool and a disappointing 4-2 defeat at home against Wolves, Chelsea are grappling with challenges.

ESPN pundit Steve Nicol didn't hold back in his criticism, singling out Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher, and Axel Diasi.

The Argentine also cast doubts on the Blues' recruitment strategy, suggesting poor player choices. As the pressure mounts, Pochettino faces trust concerns with one of his key players.

“Conor Gallagher doesn’t get anywhere close to any of the top four sides,” he said.

“Raheem Sterling, you can’t trust this guy. When he steps on the field, you don’t know what you’re gonna get. Sometimes he’s good, sometimes he disappears.”

The Brazilian is expected to depart from Stamford Bridge in the summer when his contract ends, with no discussions underway for a renewal. Gallagher has attracted interest from Tottenham for a potential £50 million transfer, which could aid Chelsea's Financial Fair Play (FFP) compliance given his academy background.

While Sterling's contract runs for another three and a half years after his £50 million move from Manchester City in 2022, is contracted with the West Londones until 2029 following his £38.5 million signing from Monaco last summer.
