Sacked manager viewed as a good fit at a relegated club

In their pursuits of a new head coach, Leicester City are considering offering Steven Gerard a return ticket to the role of a manager.

Ever since getting sacked at Aston Villa in the 2022/23 campaign, the Liverpool legend has been left without an occupation. At the time of firing Gerrard, the Villans were at a risk of being relegated, however the club made a successful jump and secured the seventh spot in the Premier League table by the end of the campaign. This success was due to the newly appointed Unai Emery.

According to The Mail, the board at Leicester City has faith in the 43-year-old coach, especially due to his time as a manager at Rangers in Scotland. There is a belief that Gerrard might rediscover his potential in a less demanding setting by taking on a job in the Championship.

During the previous season, Leicester made the decision to dismiss Brendan Rodgers and subsequently appointed Dean Smith, but unfortunately, he was unable to prevent the team from being relegated.
