Even after relegation, Southampton's Carlos Alcaraz seems inclined to stay with the Saints by rejecting offers from Newcastle and Benefica.
The 20-year-old, who joined Southampton from Racing Club in January, proved to be a successful signing and won over the fans with his performances. Despite the club's disappointing outcome, Alcaraz contributed four league goals, including a memorable display in Southampton's 3-3 draw against title-contending Arsenal.
The Argentine midfielder is content at Southampton and not engaged in discussions about a potential departure.
“To be honest I leave all of that [my future] to my agent. I always try to give my best wherever I go. I know there are a few clubs interested in me, but the truth is, I'm currently very happy at Southampton," said the skilled youngster to ESPN Argentina.
As a response, Newcastle's Eddie Howe, who is seeking to strengthen his midfield options, will need to explore other targets following Alcaraz's decision.
