Phil Hay believes Leeds fans won't 'jump for joy' if former Premier League boss takes charge

Leeds United have recently sacked manager Jesse Marsch due to disappointing results in the Premier League.

As Express Sport reported days ago, Nuno Espirito Santo coach could be of the candidates to take over the Yorkshire outfit.

The former Wolves boss is currently managing the Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad following his recent sacking by Tottenham a year ago.

However, according to the journalist, the 49-year-old would be a dull arrival and the Whites' supporters won't likely be thrilled by his hiring.

Leeds, standing 17th in the domestic table, are pretty much seeking a way to make a relegation survival, therefore they are unable to take unnecessary risks while choosing their next boss.

Speaking via The Athletic, quoted by CaughtOffside, Hay stated:

“Well I think one that will come up inevitably is Nuno and I don’t think people will jump for joy at that. He had some good years at Wolves, but he’s someone you could reasonably approach and say we need you for a few.

“He’s been mentioned in dispatches to me, but not by anybody at the club, but if you were putting together a list of people who might be easier to get hold of, he might be one of them.”
