Newcastle United are reportedly showing strong interest in Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.
According to Football Insider, the Magpies are leading the race to secure the services of the 26-year-old, putting them ahead of Premier League rival Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit.
England international has had an impressive season, contributing 10 goals and 9 assists across all competitions. However, with his side's relegation from the domestic competition, it is now unlikely that the player will King Power Stadium.
The ace has only a year remaining on his £110,000 per week contract and Leicester will likely face pressure to sell him during the current transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
Eddie Howe's side are in need of additional creativity in their midfield, and Maddison would be a valuable addition to the squad as his arrival would undoubtedly grow their chances in the upcoming Premier League title race.
