Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on the fitness of Thomas Partey, confirming that the midfielder will be included in the squad for the upcoming match against Manchester City.
The Arsenal manager revealed during his pre-match press conference that the 30-year-old's recovery is progressing faster than expected.
So far this season, Partey has featured in just four matches, with three of them being in the Premier League, following his participation in the Community Shield.
The Ghanaian star has been sidelined for six games due to a groin injury, and in a recent Champions League match against Lens, he was named as an unused substitute.
Arteta did not confirm whether the player would start the upcoming game but assured fans that he would be part of the matchday squad.
Responding to a question about Partey's readiness to start, the boss stated:
“He is ahead of schedule, that’s for sure. We wanted to have him in the squad if we needed to, the way the game panned out we had other necessities and didn’t use him.
“He will be in the squad.” Arteta said via Football London.
