Manchester United are advancing in their pursuit of Andre Onana from Inter Milan amid growing uncertainty over David De Gea's future at the club.
Erik ten Hag's side has established Onana as a potential candidate to replace De Gea, as the latter became a free agent at the begging of July and is yet to have a new deal at Old Trafford. The Italian side, however, rejected the Red Devils' first bid, and now they are reportedly being approached with an improved second offer in the amount of £55 million.
Ten Hag and the 27-year-old shot-stopper have a history in Ajax which can be handy for the Dutchman in this deal. Onana joined the Italian giants in June 2022 on a free transfer after his contract with the Dutch side expired. Ever since his arrival at Serie A, the Cameroon international has established himself as a key member of the squad that reached the Champions League final in the 2022/23 football season.
According to Dutch outlet Telegraaf, Onana's deal with United will be a five-year-long or a four-year-long deal with the option of a further year. Starting from July 20 the Red Devils will be on tour in the USA, so the best-case scenario is that Onana's contract is sealed and done by then.
