Pep Guardiola's decision to once again leave Jack Grealish on the bench for Manchester City's match against Brentford elicited a strong reaction from the player.
Despite City's recent FIFA Club World Cup victory and their aim to close the gap with Liverpool in the Premier League, Grealish found himself among the substitutes for the fourth consecutive game.
Guardiola's lineup included Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland starting together for the first time since August, alongside Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Julian Alvarez. However, Grealish's continued absence from the starting XI reportedly led to frustration within the squad, with the forward leaving training early.
Although Grealish hasn't started for City since their FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town in January, he has made substitute appearances, including in last week's victory against Burnley managed by Vincent Kompany.
Despite featuring in 18 starts this season, Grealish has been unused on the bench five times.
