While Pep Guardiola's side was defeating Inter Milan in the Champions League, the squad's key player Kevin De Bruyne sustained a hamstring tear that will have the Belgian midfielder to miss the season's opening weeks.
De Bruyne's absence from the squad is undoubtedly going to be a blow for the Citizens. The 32-year-old made an average of 3.4 chances every 90 minutes in all the competitions. That's the best rate among all the Premier League players who played at least 1000 minutes. Basically, he created a goal-scoring opportunity every 25 minutes in every game he played last season.
Manchester City's season kicks off with a match against Arsenal in the Community Shield on August 6th, but unfortunately, De Bruyne is expected to be unavailable for the early part of the Premier League campaign. In August, City has an important match against Sevilla in Greece for the UEFA Super Cup, but the midfielder will also miss out on that one.
