Manchester United confirmed that Amad Diallo is going to miss the beginning of the season due to a knee injury sustained in the pre-season tour.
The 21-year-old picked up his unlucky injury during their friendly match against Arsenal several weeks ago. The Ivorian forward is set to miss the game against Lens on August 5, as well as the opening game of the Premier League 2023/24 season against Wolves on August 14.
"Unfortunately, (Amad) has also been ruled out of the first part of the 2023/24 campaign, and we await further details on his estimated recovery date, with the home league clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers up first for Erik ten Hag's Reds," wrote the club on their official website.
Amad returned to Old Trafford after a satisfactory loan spell at Sunderland where he scored 14 goals across 42 appearances for the EFL Championship side. Sadly, his return to the Red Devils was marked by an injury.
Ever since his move to United from Atalanta in 2019, the young striker has only appeared in 9 games. Despite the lack of game time Amad has scored one goal and made one assist for the Red Devils.
