Liverpool's quest for the 'Next Salah': A promising talent in their sights

While Mohamed Salah remains a vital player for Liverpool, it's evident that he might not reach the peak form he had a few seasons ago.

The Egyptian star continues to be the driving force behind the Reds' success and sets a remarkable example in every game under Jurgen Klopp.

Saudi Pro League clubs have been persistent in their efforts to lure the 31-year-old to the UAE with lucrative offers. However, even if the player decides against such a move, it's essential to acknowledge that he is approaching 32 years of age next summer.

Despite his enduring fitness, it's reasonable to expect a decline in his goal-scoring prowess. Given this, it would be prudent for the Merseysiders to explore the market for potential long-term replacements.

One player who could fit the bill is Wolverhampton Wanderers' Pedro Neto. At 23 years old, he has yet to reach his supposed peak years. The notion that Neto could eventually step into Salah's role has some merit.

Of course, whether Wolves would be willing to part with the Portuguese ace and at a price acceptable to Liverpool is a separate matter that remains uncertain.

Speaking on the BBC Football Gossip Daily Podcast, The Athletic journalist Mark Critchley made an admission:

“You start to think who are the best left-footed players on the right with some Premier League quality and it would make sense if Neto was on that shortlist wouldn’t it? It’s a hard profile to try to replace.

“Look, I don’t think Neto is at Salah levels just yet, but if you want someone who can grow into that, and who is already able to do it at this level, he will certainly be on the list I think, so Liverpool are ones to watch.”
