Manchester United are poised to finalize the signing of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae once his release clause becomes active in early July.
Despite joining Napoli just last year, the 26-year-old South Korean international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several months.
Kim had an impressive season, contributing to Napoli's Serie A title victory. His contract includes a release clause, estimated to be around £43 million, which simplifies the signing process for the Red Devils. This clause will be active for a brief period from July 1st to July 15th, creating a small window to complete the deal.
According to Naples-based outlet Il Mattino, Napoli intend for Kim's transfer to United to be finalized on July 1st. They are treating the transfer as already completed and are planning to sign Slovak defender David Hancko from Feyenoord as Kim's direct replacement. The South Korean bid farewell to Napoli's fans and teammates in their last Serie A match against Sampdoria, as reported by CalcioNapoli24.
Insiders at Napoli, as stated by Gazzetta dello Sport, are confident that Kim will be a United player in the summer, while Corriere dello Sport goes a step further by claiming that the defender will be playing at Old Trafford in the upcoming season.
