Paul Scholes has admitted he was 'a bit surprised' by Casemiro's range of forwarding passes during the clash vs Sheriff Tiraspol on September 15.
Manchester United celebrated a 2-0 victory over Sheriff in the second matchday of Europa League's group stage.
The Brazil International started the match on the bench before being subbed on at half-time to Scott McTominay.
Speaking to BT Sport, the pundit claimed he wasn't expecting the 30-year-old to have such impressive long passes after spending years playing alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
"He surprised me a little bit with his forward passing, his range of passing. I thought he was more of a winner, getting the ball back in midfield. It was Kroos and Modric last year; he has more to his game and showed more of a range to his game."
"Casemiro, we know the quality he's got and he'll have to work his way into that team. He did okay, just okay, last week - he's clever, he's experienced.
"Eventually he will work his way into this team, but he's going to have to wait a little bit... That's his first game for some time and I think he will, eventually, with the quality he's got, work his way into the team." added Scholes
