Pep Guardiola's former assistant manager Juanma Lillo has raved about James Maddison, claiming that he is crazy about the Leicester City star.
Maddison has shown impressive performances for the Foxes since the start of the 2022/23 campaign. The England professional's latest form secured his place in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad. Furthermore, the midfielder caught the eye of a number of top sides for a potential transfer.
“One player I’m crazy about for England and [who] hasn’t played at all, James Maddison. I love this guy, he excites me,” Lillo wrote in his guest column for the Athletic, via HITC.
“He’s an authentic footballer, more of a street product than an academy product. He’s daring. He has nerve. A manager can tell him to do A, but if he believes B is the right option, he’ll do B.”
The ex-assistant manager added: “I just love this. Any idea that comes into James Maddison’s head is 100 times better than any idea you will find at any coaching conference.”
