How Aston Villa could line up next season

Though Aston Villa have reached the EFL Cup final, they struggle to keep their place in the Premier League this season.

Villans are sitting on the 19th place of the league table in the relegation zone and are under the threat to return back to the Championship. Yet, they are likely to sell their star Jack Grealish in order to raise fund for the upcoming transfer window.

Sports Mole has predicted how Dean Smith's side may line up on the opening day of next season, regardless of whether they avoid relegation from the Premier League. Image Source: www.sportsmole.co.uk Pepe Reina was brought to replace the injured Tom Heaton. However, he is not considered as an long-term option, with the club's board eager to see the player off the wage bill in the summer. Tyrone Mings is expected to remain in the backline as Bjorn Engels is likely to be moved on after failing to impress alongside his teammate. Villa may also sell Douglas Luiz, with the player having found his playing time limited with the Villans and would not be suited to the Championship if the club fail to stay in the Premie League. John McGinn, who had to miss the club games over the past three months due to a broken ankle, is also likely to be in the squad. Marvelous Nakamba and Conor Hourihane have not been regular starters this season, but they still remain key players in the squad regardless of where Dean Smith's side are playing the next season. The biggest issue for the Villans will be finding a replacement to Grealish, who has played a vital role at the team. Brentford playmaker Said Benrahma has all the chances to replace the Villa star, having already scored 10 goals and assisted 7 times in the Championship this season. Signing Huddersfield Town attacker Karlan Grant could be possible as well, with the forward having netted 16 goals and provided 4 assists in the Championship. Villa is also likely to make a decision concerning the forward Wesley Soares, who only scored 5 goals in 21 top-flight matches before suffering a serious knee injury. Mbwana Samatta is more likely to secure his place in the starting line up during the next term, having already scored twice in 6 appearances he made since his January arrival from Genk.
