Former Premier League star Ian Wright believes Brighton may struggle to keep Evan Ferguson if he maintains his current level of performance. He thinks that the young player possesses the ability to compete for any of the top teams in the Premier League.
Evan Ferguson's potential has been widely recognized for a while now, with the 18-year-old scoring 10 goals in 24 Premier League appearances. His exceptional form has not gone unnoticed, with reports from Football Transfers last month indicating that Arsenal are the most likely team to make an offer for Ferguson next summer. Brighton, however, have already placed a £100 million valuation on the young talent, and this price is expected to rise in the coming months.
Wright expressed his views on The Kelly and Wrighty Show following Evan Ferguson's outstanding hat-trick that contributed to Brighton's dominant victory over Newcastle during the weekend.
“When you look at him and the way he plays, his appreciation for the game, his movement, finishing, both feet, good in the air, good pace, he’s got all the attributes at 18,” he said, via TBR Football.
“Very sure in the way he plays. He’s somebody that all he has to do is keep doing what he’s doing and they’re going to start talking about him in millions, because that striker is not around really.
“You can’t find that guy come along who’s 18 in the Premier League. Let’s face it as well, he’s at the perfect club to continue to grow, playing Premier League football, scoring goals. They’re not going to be able to hold onto that guy if he carries on doing what he’s doing. He’s too good."
