Former Manchester City striker Clive Allen believes Erling Haaland has "everything" to be considered a perfect center-forward.
Last year, City made an excellent signing by acquiring the Norwegian from Borussia Dortmund. It was widely expected that he would score goals in a team that creates numerous scoring opportunities. However, few could have predicted that he would end his debut season in England with an impressive tally of 52 goals.
Haaland set numerous records last season, and now the challenge for him is to maintain those high standards.
During a recent podcast episode of The Debrief, the Norway international was a topic of discussion alongside the potential departure of Harry Kane from Tottenham. Allen, who has played for both Spurs and City, was asked to share his thoughts on Haaland, and he expressed his admiration for the striker, highlighting his elegance, a quality often overlooked in discussions about him.
“He has everything you would look for in an atypical centre-forward. He has physicality, pace, he’s good in the air. He has a great awareness of players around him. He’s a leftie, which always for some reason makes a player look elegant. Even (with) his size, the way he runs and carries the ball," the ex-Premier League man said, via Manchester City News.
“His involvement with his teammates. Bringing players into the play, his awareness of what’s going on around him. And obviously, he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. He just about has everything you would want. If you’re looking for a centre-forward, Erling Haaland is the perfect example," he added.
