"Got to do more" - Man City star told to step up in form to help Kevin De Bruyne

Jamie Redknapp has demanded more from Bernardo Silva as Manchester City search for more creativity going forward. Whilst Pep Guardiola's side have had a positive first half to the season and are well in the title race, their football has lacked the fluency of previous seasons.

Redknapp believes City also lack some creativity going forward, with the pressure on Kevin De Bruyne's shoulders to perform in midfield. Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp pointed to a dip in Silva's form as being a key reason Guardiola's side have not scored as many goals.

"We talk about Arsenal not being as creative, to a certain extent, we could say the same about Man City," Redknapp said. "When De Bruyne isn’t doing it, who else is gonna make a chance? Bernardo Silva has got to step up

"In 2018/19, he was one of the best players in the country, everyone was talking about him and that was when they didn’t have De Bruyne as much that season.

"Since then, there’s been a huge drop-off, he’s now 26, I love him as a player, but he’s got to do more. This last year and a half, he hasn’t done what we saw a couple of years ago."
