Ghana's head coach Chris Hughton has clarified that Thomas Partey did not experience any new injury setbacks.
Partey had been substituted during Ghana's match against Mexico. He had previously suffered a groin injury during Arsenal's third game of the season against Fulham, causing him to miss the subsequent six matches.
The Gunners star returned to the squad as an unused substitute in the Champions League game against Lens and made a 15-minute appearance against Manchester City before the international break, marking his first appearance since August.
Partey was part of the Ghana squad for friendly matches against Mexico and the USA. He started the game against Mexico but was replaced at halftime. However, Hughton has reassured that there are no fresh injury concerns and the decision to limit his playing time to 45 minutes had been premeditated before the match.
"Thomas was always only going to play 45 minutes," Hughton told a press conference, via Metro.
"He has been out injured for three to four weeks, he came back for Arsenal last midweek, was on the subs bench for one game played 20 minutes for the next game. So we knew he was only going to play 45 minutes."
