Gary Neville has suggested that Arsenal could be genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season.
The former Manchester United defender's prediction comes after Manchester City's surprising 2-1 defeat to Wolves, which narrowed the gap between the two teams to just one point.
The Gunners' impressive 4-0 away victory against Bournemouth has added to the belief that they could be title contenders. Neville emphasized the importance of Mikel Arteta and his side keeping their key players fit throughout the season.
While he believes that the North Londoners have the potential, he also acknowledged that the title race is likely to be highly competitive, with the club not expected to run away with it.
According to the pundit, City appeared "human" in their defeat at the Molineux, suggesting that maintaining the remarkable consistency that led to their treble-winning season could prove to be a significant challenge.
“I’ve got Arsenal to win the league this year. They won’t run away and win the league, your first title is very rarely like that, you have to get over the line crawling.
“Last season they fell apart late-on and made mistakes, but they have to get in that position again. Then we’ll see if they’ve matured. I think they will have.
“I just want them to have composure and be a bit more ruthless. Big tests are coming and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens, because it won’t all be about Manchester City this season.”
