England national team manager Gareth Southgate has provided an injury update on Kalvin Phillips, claiming the Manchester City star is a "big doubt" for the upcoming World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
The midfielder suffered a shoulder dislocation during City's friendly match against Barcelona last month. As a result, he will be out of action for the long term.
“There’s the recovery from surgery which there’s an estimated time [for], then the reality of how much football he might have, how much he’s had in the last eight weeks," Southgate said, via City Xtra.
"Of course he’s a big doubt [for the World Cup]…” he added.
