Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation surrounding Mauricio Pochettino, claiming there is significant internal disagreement among the higher-ups at Stamford Bridge regarding the future of the manager.
The pressure on Pochettino has reached its peak since he took over in the summer, exacerbated by discontent from supporters following the team's disappointing performance against Wolves.
Reports suggest that some Chelsea executives are already considering potential replacements for Pochettino. However, there is currently no immediate plan to terminate his contract.
Romano noted that discussions within the club are ongoing, particularly regarding when to assess Pochettino's situation. Despite poor results, Chelsea is not actively pursuing Pochettino's immediate dismissal.
“There are different opinions on what to do with the coach. Timing, when to assess the situation. So the internal discussions are still ongoing. And obviously, results are not good at all," the transfer insider said on his YouTube channel, via The Chelsea Chronicle.
“This is why the pressure is growing. At the moment, Chelsea, from what we are hearing, are not in the process of firing Mauricio Pochettino immediately.”
It appears likely that Pochettino will be given the opportunity to manage the EFL Cup final, where Chelsea will compete for their first trophy under his management. However, defeat against Liverpool in the final could ultimately lead to Pochettino's departure from Stamford Bridge.
