Fabrizio Romano shared some exclusive insights regarding Folarin Balogun and the possibility of a buy-back clause that would allow him to return to Arsenal in the future.
Writing in his recent CaughtOffside Substack column, the Italian transfer expert reported whether the Gunners had explored the option of including a clause in the USA international's transfer to Monaco, granting them the right to bring him back to the club after his move to the Ligue 1 side this summer.
Although the young 22-year-old has a promising future in football, Romano currently has no information regarding the presence of a buy-back clause.
To date, the only information he has received pertains to a sell-on clause, which entitles the North London giants to a percentage of any future transfer fee that Monaco may receive for the player.
"Some Arsenal fans have been keen to know a bit more about the terms of Folarin Balogun’s sale to Monaco, but I don’t have any more information than what I’ve already reported,” Romano said.
“Monaco and Arsenal never mentioned a buy-back clause in the news I received in August, so at the moment what I know is that it’s permanent transfer and nothing else; there’s a sell-on clause for sure, that is 100% confirmed, but I don’t know if any other clauses were discussed by the clubs.”
