Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is ready to offload Dean Henderson during the current transfer window after an unsatisfactory season, according to Manchester Evening News.
The Dutchman's dissatisfaction with Henderson dates back to last summer when the goalkeeper was loaned out to Nottingham Forest. The 26-year-old has reportedly annoyed his manager while at Forest by openly expressing his frustration about not displacing David de Gea as United's first-choice goalkeeper.
In an interview with talkSPORT, the Red stated, "I didn't really want the manager to see me in training because I knew he'd probably want to keep me. I told all the hierarchy: 'I need to go and play football. I don't want to be playing second fiddle.' And it panned out so I was almost gone before the manager came in."
Now that the Englishman's loan spell at Forest has concluded, he is set to return to Manchester United. It comes to no surprise that after such statements, the coach at Old Trafford will not be keen on keeping him in the squad.
In regards to the team's first-choice goalkeeper, the club is still in search, with several goalkeepers in Erik ten Hag's wish list. As it stands, De Gea is approaching the last few weeks of his contract with Manchester United and is set to become a free agent on June 30.
