Eddie Howe says the key player's future is in his own hands

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe admits that the key player Allan Saint-Maximin's future is in his own hands amid transfer rumors.

The French winger revealed that his career is at a "turning point" in a lengthy statement on social media a day before Howe took it to address the situation. Saint-Maximin joined the Magpies in 2019 and has been a great asset to the team ever since, thus the player's emotional post on Instagram gave rise to speculations about his future at St. James' Park.

“That (his future) will be dictated by Maxi himself," said United's head coach, emphasizing that the 26-year-old has been at his "very best, fitness-wise" and is unique in the tournament.

For the first time in 20 years, Newcastle United earned a ticket to the Champions League after a remarkable campaign. Reflecting on the skills and determination the team showcased this season, former Magpie Andy Cole thinks the club is in an "unbelievable condition" and the Franchman's departure from te squad would make "no difference" for them.
