As per French outlet L’Equipe, Chelsea have been informed by AC Milan that their goalkeeper Mike Maignan is not for sale.
Despite an overcrowded dressing room at Stamford Bridge, there have been players who have demonstrated insufficient quality, exemplified by the performances of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy over the past year. One of the main tasks for the Blues' incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will be looking for a competent shotkeeper, hence why the 27-year-old France international became one of the main targets.
Although Maignan has been in discussions regarding a contract extension with Milan, the agreement has not been finalized yet. If Chelsea can convince Maignan of their project and offer a salary that aligns with the Frenchman's expectations, there exists a possibility that he could become a part of the team in west London.
Some other players that Chelsea have been heavily linked with are Inter's Andre Onana and Brentford keeper David Raya. With just a few days left until the 2023 summer transfer window opens, the Blues will be looking to rebuild their squad in an effort to overcome the failed season.
