Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has explained why he would have no doubts on playing midfielder Hamza Choudhury against Liverpool.
The Reds travel to the King Power stadium for a Boxing Night top-of-the-table clash following their World Club Cup win in Qatar last weekend.
Two sides played in early October and the Foxes were beaten 2-1 at Anfield thanks to a late James Milner penalty. Choudhury was booked for a reckless challenge on Mohamed Salah during the latter stages of that game, an incident which left the Egyptian forward recovering from an ankle injury for weeks afterwards and drew criticism from Jurgen Klopp. The 22-year-old midfielder reportedly received racial abuse on social media after the incident, which Leicester reported to police although no arrests were made.
However, Rodgers said he would have no issue throwing him back in against Liverpool:
"I wouldn't even think about not playing him," said Leicester boss.
"He made a tackle and there was nothing in it. He has been absolutely fine, he knows the club will always fight for him and the players to make a stand against any form of racism. It's not nice but he's a tough boy, he's a young guy who is a real leader in this fight. He is always there to play if we need him. The team has been playing at a very high level in the first half of the season so it's been difficult for him but when he's been asked to play he's come in and done a really good job."
